Charmed

"All charming people, I fancy, are spoiled. It is the secret of their attraction." - Oscar Wilde

I love this Oscar Wilde quote. I think we all deserve to be a little spoiled every once in awhile, especially if it makes us more charming! I wanted to show you guys something that is part of my outfit every single day: my charm bracelet. My mother gave it to me for my twenty first birthday. It was hers growing up, and every year for her birthday my grandmother would give her a new charm. I used to love playing with it when I was little, and I was so surprised and happy when she gave it to me. What I love most about it is that the charms were important to her. There are lots of horse charms because she was very into horseback riding when she grew up. There is also a Scotty dog, similar to ones that her family had when she was young. That charm sticks out its tongue when you press on its tail! There is also a nursery rhyme, the old lady who lived in a shoe, which looks like a regular charm but when you open it there are little statues of children inside. There are more; a fishing basket, a scottish thistle, a treasure chest which opens and closes, a canoe which you can move the oars on, etc. I love them all, and this bracelet is probably my favorite possession because it has so much sentimental value. I decided to photograph it sitting on top of another of my favorite things, my Dad's tripod from Africa. You can even see a little bit of African mud still on the top!

Tonight I am going to finish getting my Halloween costume together. This dress is going to be part of it so I wanted to make sure that I wore it to see if it is too short before it is actually Halloween and I have no other costume choices! I am going to be a Beatles song...can you guess which one?
What are you being for Halloween?
Boots: Vintage; Tights: M&S; Dress: Borrowed from my roommate...thrifted?

Aw that's a darling bracelet! I had one that I added to when I was younger, but it's been in hiding for a few years. (:

Ahh Oscar Wilde - love it. You have some very cool charms there too - for some reason when I think of charm bracelets I always think of those weird plastic toys you can pic up at a bargain basement toy store.

Thanks for visiting my blog! I love the colours too. The new house is absolutely stunning... but a little less colourful :)

Now that is what I mean about a charm bracelet. Wowwy, its big. I just a-dore your earrings, so cool. I agree spoiled people are charming. You can't limit yourself in life all the life. Part of it is treating yourself even once a while.

Such a wonderful gift. My mom had/has a charm bracelet too, but the charms weren't nearly so elaborate, and no one really wore it. I also really like your Dad's old tripod. The mythology of the African mud!
Am adding you to Bloglovin. : )

(Oh, and what I came over to say: You should definitely return any ripped Topshop dress. I tried on a velvet dress there, and on its own I might have loved it, but it sadly didn't compare with the tba one).

I love your charm bracelet! I have one of my own and I love getting new charms for it. :)

And the tripod is totally cool. I remember your mention of it in a post from a while back.

This post is great. The pictures. The outfit. The sentiment.

Really, everything has a worn, loved look to it.
