Nothing But Your Eyes Across The Campfire
Here's a little glimpse into my life when I'm not prancing about wearing pretty dresses. Camping is one of my favorite activities and I am so lucky that I have incredible scenery and spots to camp right in my backyard! On the night last week when I took these photos we didn't decide to go camping until 7:30. We packed up my friend Bobby's truck and jetted up into the mountains where we set up his tent (affectionately dubbed Hotel Kurylo) and whipped up some food and s'mores. My favorite part about being friends with so many musicians is that they bring their instruments everywhere. They played some Johhny Cash, Ben Harper, and jammed a little bit while I fiddled with my camera settings. The quality of light was so interesting because of the fire and I got some pretty sweet shots. I'm going camping again this weekend and I'm excited to get some more fire photos. Sorry this post is a bit image heavy, I just had such a good time taking these that it's a little hard to separate out the photos because I like them all!
Joey Dubs:
I'm always making fun of Bobby for playing with his hair, and I finally caught him on camera!
Jack:
The night was so clear that we could see the Milky Way so brightly, Venus, and the Andromeda Galaxy. I am so thankful that I can see so many stars every night - it's one of my favorite parts about living away from the city. I wish I could have gotten some photos of the stars but sadly the stock lens on my camera wasn't quite up to that! I was at a full moon party a few months ago and saw a photographer using a fish eye lens for his night shots; they turned out wonderfully! One of these days I would love to save up enough money to get some fun lenses for my camera.
What is your favorite time of day to take photos? Do you have a go-to lens?

Lucy and Friends go for a Walk
I went for a walk the other day with my lovely friend Ashley. She just left for Costa Rica today so I'm feeling a little nostalgic. I have so few girlfriends in Tahoe and everyone moves a lot so it's definitely sad to see her go! Life up here is funny sometimes...I've never been friends with so many guys before. It has definitely changed the way my friendships work I think.
We have been so lucky with the weather here; it is still hot and we've had plenty of time to enjoy our Indian summer now that there aren't so many tourists around. I've been hiking, biking and wakeboarding as much as possible. Winter comes on so fast here; by the end of October it's going to be snowing! I'm sad to see summer going, but I can't wait for ski season to start. I've been having dreams about skiing in powder already!
What are you looking forward to this autumn?

Thunder on the Lake
We've been having some pretty incredible storms lately in Tahoe. They remind me of when I was little growing up on the East Coast, watching the thunder and lighting from our porch. I love the way the air feels just before it rains, so heavy and humid!
I ran down to the beach to take these pictures because the sky looked so dramatic. It was pretty hard for me to capture how crazy the clouds looked; the sky was gray and it started pouring with rain right when I finished taking these.

It's the shoulder season here right now so work has really been slowing down a lot since there are no tourists around. It is a good time for all the locals to get together and go camping, see lots of music, and go on trips. My roommates and I have been making tons of plans; trying to get our travels in in the next six weeks before the snow comes. I can't wait for winter to start, my skis have been beckoning me from the closet and I've been having tons of dreams about skiing in powder!
What are you guys excited to do this fall before winter comes?

Hidden Valley
Here's a little slice of my summer life. Since the river opened, I've been working non-stop for the rafting company, and haven't really had much of a chance to do anything else! It's definitely not a bad life though, getting to swim in the river whenever I want and chilling out in my little kiosk helping customers has been preeeetty perfect. I get to hula hoop whenever I want too!
I always bring my breakfast in a mason jar. It's the best way to carry my food with me, and then I can use the jar as a water glass throughout the day.
One of our buses. They all have funny names like Road Kill, Baby Bear, King Kong, Godzilla, and Demon Duck.
My kiosk with hula hoops sitting outside. I always bring extras to share!
My view all day.
Paradise.
Our rafts. I've lifted a whole lot of these in the past week. They each weigh over 100 pounds!
This is a real picture taken in the 1970's when some nuns came rafting with our company. Awesome, right?
Hope you have all had an amazing summer and have exciting plans for this fall. I can't wait for some rainstorms, late summer campfires and everything wonderful that autumn brings!
