Spring-a-ling

Springaling

Springaling

Spring is here in Lake Tahoe! I know my last post was all about blizzards, but, as they say, in California "if you don't like the weather, wait a day", because it changes all the time. It has been warm enough for t-shirts, late night walks, and lots of outdoor beer drinking. Last night our neighbors dug out our fire pit and had a 70's themed barbecue, complete with fondue, ponchos, and benches carved into the snow. It was so delicious!

The snow has been a little gross (ie a sticky death trap) lately because of the changing weather conditions, so I've been snowboarding a lot more, because every time I've been skiing in this slush I've wanted to go way too fast and, well, results haven't been pretty. In the skiing world we call the type of fall I'm fairly well known for around these parts "yard sale-ing" because your skis, poles, and other possessions (sunglasses, errant gloves, change, your car keys) end up getting strewn out over the mountain. So, snowboarding it is for the near future!

I was so excited to pull this dress out of my closet because it is so perfect for this weather. I love how it looks paired with brown. I got it at a thrift store in Reno and altered it because before it was a maxi dress. I still can't pull off the maxi look, as much as I desperately want to! The rest of the outfit is thrifted too. One of the other ski instructors provided me with a beautiful new addition to my charm necklace, a crystal that he picked out for me and welded wires to so that I could wear it on a pendant. It's absolutely beautiful, and it's funny that I've been wanting a crystal for so long and then one came across my path!

What have you been doing to enjoy the weather and celebrate spring?

The dress looks awesome at this length. I've really got no excuse being on the tall side and all but I can't work out what to do with maxi skirts either. Your shoes are adorable :)

Lovely dress dear! I feel the same way about maxi dresses...They just aren't for me for some reason. Thank you for the sweet comments on my blog. I would definitely love to follow your blog as well. Happy Spring!

I love this outfit. Those shoes are adorable, I want some! And I also agree, I always love how just about any floral dress looks with brown shoes. As a result of this almost all of my shoes are brown. haha which isn't always a good thing.

Such a contrast between this post and the last one! The dress is great; I really need to start giving long dresses more of a chance (although the lack of sewing machine doesn't help). Also, I don't think I'd noticed the tattoos on your feet before, but they definitely add something to this outfit.

Aand, I had a proper giggle about your yard-saling down the mountain. ; )

I can't wait to go up to Tahoe for the Spring! It is my favorite time of the year in Tahoe (although the Winter is also beautiful!) I just stumbled upon your blog and love your style! That dress is adorable and the perfect length for the Spring. Now following along on your adventures! xoxo

Oh, you have such a lovely blog :) At least from what I can see scrolling through. I am entirely following you now. I laughed a little, because the weather is constantly changing in Portland too, but within the same day: rainy wet in the morning, clear and sunny in the afternoon, hailing and thundering that night. hehe. It's silly that you're wearing such a pretty spring dress whilst standing next to a huge mound of snow.. :)

I cannot do the maxi either! Being 5'4" has something to do with it, but it just does not work for me. I cut and hem most gorgeous things I find...

Ah, the weather there looks so crazy. You are standing in a summery outfit surrounded my mounds of snow >.<
